David Warren Maddox Sr.

71; of New Albany

A memorial service for David Warren Maddox Sr., 71, of New Albany, will be at 6:30 p.m., May 9, at Centenary United Methodist  Church, New Albany. He died Saturday, April 28, 2012, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services. He was born in Louisville, on July 20, 1940, to Otto Ray and Thelma L. Martin Maddox. A skilled tradesman and gifted craftsman, he retired from The Pillsbury Company in New Albany after more than 40 years, preceded by service in the Kentucky National Guard. He attended services at Centenary United Methodist Church, enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, boating and traveling with friends.

Survivors include his first wife, Darleen Burns Cox, of Sellersburg,  and their children, David Maddox Jr., of Memphis, Tenn., Lisa Ann Maddox, of Biloxi, Miss., Tina Darleen Bryan, of New Albany, and Christopher R. Maddox, of Louisville; stepchildren, Shane Jenkins, of New Albany, and Trisha Dennis, of New Salisbury; three grandchildren, Matthew, Andrew and Kayla; and step-grandchildren, Gloria, Jalynn, and Tanner.

He was preceded in death by his parents, second wife, Gloria J. Maddox and his first child, Elaine Lynn Maddox.

Grayson Funeral Home, Charlestown, is in charge of arrangements. Burial will be private.
