Private funeral services for Dolores “Dody” Rissler Ellenberger, 85, of Rochester, N.Y., will be held at a later date. She died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012.
She was born Jan. 12, 1927 in New Albany, to Herbert E. and Mary C. “Cassie” Beeler Rissler. She was a 1944 graduate of New Albany High School, received a degree in nursing from the University of Rochester and was one of the founding members of the Women’s Club of Rochester and a longtime member of the Genesee Region Orchid Society.
Survivors include her loving husband, John R. Ellenberger Sr.; children, Susan Buckner (James Carey), Rebecca LeRoy and her husband, Steven, Janis Slora (Dawn DellVeneri), and John R. Ellenberger Jr. (Jacquelyn Conner); seven grandchildren, Richard, Jessica, Melanie, Michelle, Robert, Kerry, and Leslie and her husband, Charles; three great-grandchildren, Mason, Joshua and Jaydon; sisters, Marilyn Peel and Ann Eiler; and brother, James Thornton and his wife, Bonnie.
