Memorial Mass for George G. Bowe Sr., 81, of Memphis, will be at 10 a.m. Monday, April 30, at St. Joseph Hill Catholic Church, Sellersburg. He died Wednesday, April 18, 2012, with family at his side.
He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a long-time member of St. Joseph Hill Catholic Church in Sellersburg, and a life member of VFW Post 3281, New Albany and American Legion Post 204, Sellersburg. He was born Feb. 11, 1931 in Floyds Knobs, to the late George and Julia J. Zimmerman Bowe.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Lenora P. Davis Bowe; son, George G. Bowe Jr. and his wife, Doraveen; daughter, Beverly J. Bowe; sisters, Thelma Johnson and Valeria Shidler; grandchildren, Bruce, Dana, Aaron, Adam, Amy, and Andrea Bowe, Michael Calvert, and Kendra Ford; and great -grandchildren, Savona and Chessa Bowe and Emily Ford.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his son, Daral L. Bowe; sisters, Adelaide Renn and Elma Daugherty; and brothers, Kenneth, Dennis, Cyril, and Cletus Bowe.
Newcomer Funeral Home, New Albany, is in charge of the arrangements.
