Opal A. Brock

76; of Vincennes

  Opal A. Brock, 76, of Vincennes, died Tuesday, May 1, 2012.

   She was born Sept. 2, 1935 in the Beech Hills area of Harrison Township in Knox County. She was the daughter of Alvis and Lena Mae Leffler Brock. Born with cerebral palsy, she inspired her family and others by graduating from Lincoln High School, Vincennes University, and Indiana University. Close to being a lifelong member of the Old Cathedral Catholic Church, she also belonged to the Francis Vigo Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, with 16 approved Revolutionary War ancestors. She will be remembered for her independent spirit and sense of humor.

     Survivors include her mother, Lena Evans, of Vincennes; sister, Alberta Baker  and her husband, William Baker MD, of Louisville, and their children, Lisa Schoen MD and her husband, Russ, Dana Baker, and Chris Baker; sister, June Wells and her husband, Russ, of Ranburne, Ala., and their children, Kim Goforth, Donna Goforth, Stephanie Wells, Bobby Goforth, and Mark Wells; brother, Jerry White of Ben Salem, Penn. and his children, James, Danielle, Alicia, and Christopher White; sister ,Linda Brown of Alabama, and her sons, Mark and Robert; and her brother, William E. Evans and his wife, Paula, and their children, Robert P. Evans and his wife, Kristie, and Nicholas Eugene Evans; as well as many great-nieces and nephews.

     The family would like to thank the many friends and staff who cared for her, especially the staffs of the critical care unit of Good Samaritan Hospital, and the New Willow Manor, both in Vincennes, and the Hillcrest Center for Health in Jeffersonville.

     There will be no services.

 Donations may be made in her memory to Kosair Children’s Hospital, 231 E. Chestnut St., Louisville, KY 40202, the Shrine Children’s Hospital, 2001 S. Lindbergh Blvd., St. Louis, MO, 63131, or the Old Cathedral, 205 Church Street, Vincennes, IN 47591.
