Bertrand, Dorothy Mary

72; of Sellersburg


— A funeral Mass for Dorothy Mary Bertrand, 72, of Sellersburg, will be noon Saturday, Aug. 28, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Sellersburg, with entombment in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. She died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2010, at her residence surrounded by her family after a long battle with cancer.

She was born April 26, 1938 to the late Philip and Helen Sprigler Andres, in Floyd County. She was a clerk at the U.S. Census Bureau in Jeffersonville and a sales clerk in the China Department at the old Bacons Department Store in Clarksville. She was a graduate of Providence High School, class of 1956 and was a member of the Clarksville Library Book Club and Seniorcise at the Clarksville Community Center. She was a member of two bunco clubs and was an avid bowler. She was a loving mother and grandmother and always enjoyed lunch with her many cousins and classmates. She was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Sellersburg.   

Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Earl Bertrand; daughters, Rhonda Bertrand, Julia Faris and Laura Stoner and her husband, Micky; brother, Ronnie Andres and his wife, Ruth Anne; sister, Donna Whiteley (Jim Costin); grandchildren, Jacquelyn Faris, Olivia Faris, Carter Faris, Phillip Stoner, Helena Stoner, Nicholas Stoner and Rebecca Stetenbenz and her husband, Josh; and great-grandchildren, Joshua Stetenbenz and Isaiah Stetenbenz

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Friday at Kraft Funeral Services, Spring Street Chapel, New Albany.  A rosary service will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

The family requests expressions of sympathy be made to St. Paul’s Catholic Church in the form of masses in her honor.
