Funeral services for Ann Elizabeth Coomer, 74, of Jeffersonville, will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 4, at E.M. Coots’ Sons Funeral Home, Jeffersonville, with burial in Walnut Ridge Cemetery, Jeffersonville. She died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013.
She was born March 14, 1939, in Greenburg, Ky. and only weighted 1 lb. when she was born. Her mother used a shoe box for her bed and kept her near the wood stove to keep her warm. Ann survived many struggles throughout her life, always keeping a positive attitude and putting her family and others first. Ann and her husband Ken of 57 years founded the Jeffersonville Landmark, Ann’s By The River Restaurant which is still owned and operated by her family today.
She is survived by her husband, James “Ken” Coomer; sons, Rodney D. Coomer and wife, Peggy, of Henryville, David G. Coomer and wife, Frances, of Salem, and John K. Coomer and wife, Kimberly, of Jeffersonville; grandchildren, Andrew T. Coomer, of Sellersburg, Morgan E. Coomer, of Jeffersonville, and Crystal Coomer-Kern, of Henryville; and great-grandchild, Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home.
