Jonathan “Jon” R. Akers, 56, of Sellersburg, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2012, at Clark Memorial Hospital. Jon entered Heaven after living a life of faith, perseverance, and humor.
The son of Edward L. and Jane Birk Akers, he is survived by his wife, Bonny Kelly Akers; sisters, Barbara Bridgwater and Nancy Dickey and her husband, Stephen; and nieces and nephews, Spencer Bezy, Jennifer Martin, Stacy Bezy and David Bridgwater; along with his extended family, brother-in-law, Lee Kelly and his wife, Sally, sister-in-law, Donna Ahlbrand and her husband, Tony, brother-in-law, Tim Kelly and his wife, Paula, sister-in-law, Teresa Ozdogu and her husband, Deniz; nieces and nephews, Amanda Ahlbrand, Dena Brooner, Trevor Ahlbrand, Brad Kelly, Ben Ahlbrand; and five great nieces and nephews, Brynnen, Lennon, MacKennon, Finnian, Kayla, and Xavier.
He was preceded in death by two nephews, Travis Kelly and Josh Kelly.
A private celebration of Jonathan’s Life will be held at a later date. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
