Funeral services for Darla Hottell Welsh Herthel, 74, of Georgetown, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15, at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home, Georgetown, with burial in Wolfe Cemetery. She died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at the Villas of Guerin Woods Nursing Home in Georgetown.
She was born in Corydon on Sept. 23, 1938, the daughter of Kendall Augustus and Edna Hazel Rochner Hottell. She was the Georgetown Elementary School secretary for more than 40 years and was a member of the Valley View Golf Club and Georgetown’s Homemakers Club. She was also a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Georgetown.
She is survived by her second husband, Ray Allen Herthel; sons, Gary Wayne Welsh and his wife, Sonja Kay, of Louisville, Ray Allen Herthel Jr. and his wife, Pam, Terry Edward Herthel and his wife, Marian, David Wayne Herthel and Michael Jon Herthel, all of Georgetown; daughter, Rhonda Smith and her husband, Sam, of Borden; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Clifford Welsh.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. today, Thursday, Feb. 14, at the funeral home.
Family suggest memorials be made to Georgetown Christ United Methodist Church.
