Funeral services for George Washington Waters, 86, of Charlestown, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 12, at Grayson Funeral Home, Charlestown, with burial in Crown Hill Cemetery. He died Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at his home.
He was born Aug. 10, 1925, to Andrew and Goldie Reed Waters in New Washington. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II, a retired security guard for the Old ICI Americas, a former insurance agent, the New Washington Justice of Peace, and was the former Charlestown City Court Judge. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 335, VFW Post 1427, New Washington Masonic Lodge 167, and a member of the Indiana Judicial Association.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Jo Young; sons, George E. Waters, and David A. Waters, both of New Washington; stepson, Jeremy Meredith, of Charlestown; five grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, noon to 8 p.m. Friday, and after 9 a.m. Saturday, at the funeral home. Military services will be provided by the American Legion Post 335 and the VFW Post 1427.
