Orain Maurice Chamness

70; of Hanover

>>SOUTHERN INDIANA — Funeral services for Orain Maurice Chamness, 70, of Hanover, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 18, at Collins Funeral Home, Scottsburg, with burial in New Bethel Cemetery in Chelsea. He died Monday, March 15, 2010,

at the Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville.

He was born Oct. 25, 1939, in Scott County, to the late Orain Roby and Blanche Mae Righthouse Chamness. He was a retired electrician for the old NTNBCA in Greensburg and also worked for the old North Clark Community Hospital in Charlestown and Arbuckle's Electric in Scottsburg. He was a member of the Lexington Christian Church, English Lodge  622 F & AM in Lexington and also played guitar in the Blue River Band at many different places and at Leroy’s Grocery in Lexington on the fourth Saturday of each month.

Survivors include his wife, Connie L. Spencer Harbin-Chamness; sons, David A. Chamness, of Madison and John M. Chamness, of Charlestown; daughters, Karla S. Eskridge, of Auburn, Michelle L. Cissell, of Speed and Vicki L. Reed, of Henryville; stepsons, Rick Harbin, of New Washington and Anthony Harbin, of Sellersburg; stepdaughters, Sherry Schroerlucke, of Jeffersonville and Sue Cole, of Marysville; brother, Kenneth Chamness, of Lexington; 16 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brother, John A. Chamness.

Visitation at the funeral home will be from 3 to 8 p.m., with a Masonic memorial service at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday and after 9 a.m. Thursday.
