Jenks, William B. ‘Bill’

69; of New Albany

Funeral services for William B. “Bill” Jenks, 69, of New Albany, will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 9, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, New Albany, with burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery. He died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2010,  at Clark Memorial Hospital, Jeffersonville.

He was born Nov. 29, 1940, in New Albany, to the late Raymond B. and Dorthea L. Kraft Jenks. He was a graduate of the Class of 1958 at Providence High School and the former Kentucky School of Mortuary Science. He was a funeral director for many years at Kraft Funeral Service, during which time he was elected Floyd County Coroner, serving one term. He later continued his public service as Floyd County Treasurer for four terms and as Floyd County Clerk for two terms, before his retirement in 2001. He was a member of the Floyd County Men’s Democrat Club, the Manzanita Tribe Independent Order of Redmen, the Voiture 40 & 8 1250 and the Elks Club, all in New Albany. He was also a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of New Albany

Survivors include his wife, Susie O’Hara Jenks; daughter, Suzy Kaelin and her husband, David, of New Albany; stepchildren, Mark Farmer, of Australia, Sharon Bullock and her husband, Lance, of Baton Rouge, La., and Scott Farmer, of New Albany; sisters, Anna Board, of Austin, Texas, and Pat Leist-Stumler and her husband, Irvin, of New Albany; grandchildren, Jordan and Lindsey Kaelin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Lynn Jenks.

Visitation will be at Kraft Funeral Service, Spring Street Chapel, New Albany, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, and after 8 a.m. Monday.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Hosparus Hospice of Southern Indiana, St. Mary’s Catholic Church of New Albany or Our Lady of Providence High School in Clarksville.
