Funeral services with military honors for George C. Gilpin, 75, of Martinsville, will be at 10 a.m. Monday, March 15, at Kraft Funeral Service, Charlestown Road Chapel, New Albany, with private entombment in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. He died Thursday, March 11, 2010 at his home.
The son of the late George M. and Minnie B. Hendren Gilpin, he was born July 14, 1934, in Charlestown. He was a veteran of the United States Army and member of the VFW in Hardinsburg, Ky.
Survivors include his daughters, Mary Jo Loop and her husband, Frank, of Borden, Peggy Lynn McCann and her husband, Rod, of Martinsville, and Lea Ann Waynescott and her husband, Robert, of Charlestown; sister, Norma Jean Vest of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren, Chris and Shelby Loop, Amy and Tyler McCann, and Bobby, Wyatt and Morgan Waynescott.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Mattingly Gilpin.
