Funeral services for Samuel Lee Kemp, 63, of Ramsey, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 15, at Swarens Funeral Home, Ramsey, with burial in Wood’s Chapel Cemetery, Ramsey. He died Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services, New Albany.
He was born Oct. 27, 1948, near Sulphur, son of the late Oliver Sherman and Julia Mary Hester Shrout Kemp. He was a former employee of Stroble Waterbed Company, Jeffersonville, and was a Christian.
Surviving are his wife, Julia Ann Braun Kemp; daughters, Tammy Sue Linton, of Charlestown, Susan Marie Plaiss, of New Albany, Julia Faye Hanes, of Charlestown, and April Lee Kemp, of Charlestown; step-daughters, Anita King, Rebecca Ann Brosmer, Penny Garland, Debbie Taylor, Vickie Fulkhor, Tammy Dick, and Brenda Hile; brother, David Kemp, of New Albany; sisters, Dorothy Elliott, of New Albany, and Doris Scandland, of Borden; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by brothers, Roger and William Kemp.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m.today, and after 8 a.m. Friday, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family, in care of the funeral home.
