Robert K. Parsons, formerly of Floyds Knobs, died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2012. He was born in Staunton, Ill. to George and Mary Parsons in 1922. After attending high school in New Albany, he joined the US Air Force and served as a Hump pilot in World War II and later flew missions from Tokyo to Seoul during the Korean Conflict. He flew commercially for American Airlines based out of Chicago, retiring as a Captain with over 25000 incident free flight hours.
He is survived by his wife, Vita (Leidolf) Parsons, of Downers Grove, Ill.; three sons, David and his wife, Susan, of Green Bay, Wis.; Dennis and his wife, Sally, of Hinsdale, Ill., and Drew, of Albuquerque, N.M.; and five grandchildren.
He will be interred in a private ceremony at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, Ill.
