Darren Maurice Ellis

32; of Jeffersonville

Funeral services and a homegoing celebration for Darren Maurice Ellis, 32, of Jeffersonville, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 7, at Wesley United Methodist Church, Jeffersonville. He died as a Young Christian Soldier on Sunday, July 1, 2012.

He was born Feb. 23, 1980, and professed his life to Christ at an early age.  He was a graduate of Jeffersonville High School where he was an outstanding basketball player. He earned an Associate’s Degree from Ball State University, an Associate’s Degree from Oakland City University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Oakland City University. He was employed by Thompson Industrial Services, Buckner, Ky. as an Operations Manager. He was an avid sports fan and loved to play Scrabble. He was a member of the former Henrietta K. Hunter Youth Fraternity. He was an active member of Amazing Grace Community of Faith United Methodist Church.

He leaves behind to mourn two children, Darren M. Ellis II and K’Lynn C. Ellis, his loving parents, Rev. Mark Windley (affectionately called Pops) and Lynn E. Windley. He had four special sisters, Tyra Koss- Ellis, Leste’ Ellis, Natalie Ellis and Sherita Ellis; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who loved him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Warren and Ethel Ellis Sr.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 1201 Thomas V. Bryant Blvd. Jeffersonville.

Spring Valley Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
