Funeral services for Ray Nelson, 81, of Charlestown, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 16, at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, Charlestown, with burial in Charlestown Cemetery. He died Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at his home.
He was born Feb. 12, 1932 to Justice and Martha Long Nelson in Pleasureville, Ky. He was a retired assembly worker for G.E., and a former Deacon of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church of which he was a member.
Survivors include his wife, Betty McClellan Nelson; sons, Ricky Nelson and his wife, Teresa, of Charlestown, Stephen Nelson and his wife, Michelle, of Louisville, and Robert Nelson and his wife, Tabby, of Charlestown; brothers, Donnie Nelson, of Jeffersonville, and Elliott Nelson, of Pleasureville, Ky.; sisters, Ora Lee Jenkins, of New Washington, and Lois Jamison, of Louisville; grandchildren, Melissa Florence, Brandon and Michael Nelson; and great-grandchildren, Amber, Emily, Douglas, Josh and Jarrett.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, at the Grayson Funeral Home, Charlestown and after 10 a.m. Saturday, at the church.
