Edna Francis Atwood McClure

85; of New Albany

Funeral services for Edna Francis Atwood McClure, 85, of New Albany, will be at noon Saturday, Feb. 4, at Kraft Funeral Service, Charlestown Road Chapel, New Albany, with burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany. She died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, at her home.

She was born Dec. 31, 1926, in Detroit, to the late Louis and Lettie Ridge Francis. She formerly lived and graduated from high school in Leavenworth, and was married in 1946 to Kenneth Atwood until his death in 1991. She was a wonderful homemaker, wife, mom and grandmother who loved flowers, gardening, singing and nursing homes and children’s ministry. She married Kermit McClure in 2004 and was a member of Graceland Baptist Church in New Albany.     

Survivors include her husband, Kermit McClure; children, James Atwood and his wife, Claudia, of Sellersburg, Jan Edds and her husband, Don, of New Albany, and Judi McKamey and her husband, Brett, of Westfield; two step-children, Ron McClure and his wife, Patti, and Rick McClure and his wife, Carolyn; nine grandchildren, Brooke Horner, Meghan Atwood, Jody Blair, Sean Litke, Laura and Erin McKamey, Stacy and Jeff Edds, and Clay Hofferbert; 10 great-grandchildren, Spencer, Mason, Reece, Jeffrey, James, Chasey, Amira, Anthony, Tatiana, and Nadia; and two brothers, Frank Francis and his wife, Sue, of Greenville, and Robert Francis  and his wife, Pat, of Jeffersonville.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Cilvan Francis; and sister, Ruby Shevsky.       

Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. today, Friday, Feb. 3 and after 10 a.m. Saturday, at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Alzheimer’s Association or Vista Care Hospice.
