Mary Erma Anderson

89; of Laconia

Funeral services for Mary Erma Anderson, 89, of Laconia, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home, Corydon, with burial in Rehoboth Cemetery in Laconia. She died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012, at Lincoln Hills Healthcare Center in New Albany.

She was born in Elizabeth, on May 24, 1922, the daughter of Roy and Dora Belle Glaze Ward. She had been a production worker at the ICI plant in Charlestown, was the owner of Anderson’s Basketry with her husband, Sonny, where she hand weaved beautiful baskets. She was a member of the Old Capitol Wheelers Square Dance Club, the Southern Indiana Flower Club, Southern Indiana Craft Guild and Rehoboth Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include a son, Eddie Anderson and his wife, Lisa, of Laconia; three daughters, Mary Jean Knear and her husband, Mackey, of Elizabeth, Paula Hensley and her husband, Roger, and Jane Caudill, both of Laconia; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Maurice “Sonny” Anderson; a son, Johnnie Anderson; a granddaughter, Dawn Marie Anderson; sister, Barbara Hamlin; brother, Billie Ward; and son-in-law, Marty Caudill.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today,  9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, and after 9 a.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorial gifts be made to Rehoboth Presbyterian Church.
