Funeral services for Carolyn Sue Varney, 72, of Jeffersonville, will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31, at E.M. Coots’ Sons Funeral Home, Jeffersonville, with burial to follow in Walnut Ridge Cemetery. She died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at Kindred Hospital.
She was an avid U of L fan and she loved gardening. Carolyn was a supervisor at the Census Bureau and was a native of Hardy, Ky.
Survivors include her husband, Clarence E. “Bob” Varney; daughters, Lisa Bernhard and her husband Jeff, of Jeffersonville, Teresa Ridgeway and her husband Dale, of Shelbyville, Ky., and Angelia Lynn Armstrong, of Jeffersonville; grandchildren, Ashley Herndon, Jessica Armstrong, Mary Elizabeth Ridgeway, Clark Herndon Jr., Chris Meyer, Mark Meyer and Dole Ridgeway Jr.; great-grandchild, Madilynn Herndon; brothers, Darrell Stanley, of Franklin, Tenn., Eddie Stanley, of Franklin, Tenn., Bruce Stanley, of Hardy, Ky.; and sister, B.J. Ousley, of Pikeville, Ky.
She was preceded in death by her father, Virgil Stanley; mother, Maudie Stanley; and brother, Virgil Stanley Jr.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
