A memorial service and celebration of the life of Thomas Lee Booth Jr., 73, of Sellersburg, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 2, at Hamburg Church of Christ, Sellersburg. He went to be with our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013.
He was cared for by the loving and dedicated staff while at Maple Manor Christian Home. He was born on April 18, 1939 in Williamson, W. Va. He graduated from Pikeville College, Pikeville, Ky. with a B.S. in education with a major in history. He was an avid reader who kept the library staff busy getting books for him. He was always loving and helpful. As a young man he would do landscaping work for senior neighbors. He continued to use his teaching talents at Hamburg Church of Christ by reading scripture and teaching a class. Teaching a Bible class at Maple Manor Christian Home was a joy for him. He even helped Graceland Baptist Church by doing inserts to their Sunday bulletin. He was a member of the Hamburg Church of Christ. His humility and caring personality caused everyone to love and respect him. Special thanks goes to them for transporting him to church on Sundays and to their men’s fellowship meetings. He truly was a meek person who has been welcomed into Heaven to join his mom and dad.
Survivors include his brother, William Ray Booth and his wife, Ann; nieces, Jennifer Booth Coaxum (spouse, June and daughter, Chelsey) and Stephanie Booth Shane (spouse, Kyle and daughter Kayla) and nephew, Stewart Allen Booth (spouse, Kristen, and daughters, Sarah and Rachel).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Lee Booth Sr. and Catherine Irene Booth.
