Funeral services for Mary Elizabeth Matherly Grose, 87, of Clarksville, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, at Newcomer Funeral Home, New Albany, with burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Leavenworth. She went to be with our Lord on Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, in Jeffersonville.
She was born on Feb. 24, 1925 in Leavenworth, to the late Dave and Katie Borden Matherly. She gave her life to Christ at Hope Community Church of God in Clarksville, where she spent many years as a member. She loved to read but her greatest love was her family and the time she spent with them.
She is survived by her children, Kathy Crawford and her husband, Ron, Delores Carpenter, David Floyd, Paul Floyd and his wife, Cathy, Danny Floyd, Billy Floyd and his wife, Debbie, Marquita Fabbri, and Glenna Knope and her husband, Greg; sister, Gladys Steele; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Devin Floyd; brothers, Gerald, Martin, Clay, Bill, and Marion Matherly; sisters, Myrtle Watson, Margaret Deschwanden, and Irma Boone.
Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, and after 11 a.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.
