Juanita J. Haas Truex Heubi

83; of Clarksville

Funeral services for Juanita J. Haas Truex Heubi, 83, of Clarksville, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, at Scott Funeral Home, with entombment in Graceland Mausoleum. She died at her home on Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, with her family by her side.

Juanita is survived by her son, T.E. Truex with his wife, Lorena and their two daughters, Megan and Alexa; four sisters, Vashti Brocar, Bonnie (Frank) Isaacs, Jill (Clayton) Mallory and Paulina Baxter; several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews; and Dottie Truex and Sylvia Galligan (her longtime friend and neighbor), and her three primary caregivers, Rose Thomas, Susan Brocar and Virginia Meyers.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years,  Magnus Heubi (2008); first husband,  E.G. Truex (1972); her parents, Don and Jane Haas; her sister, Barbara Haworth; three brothers-in-law,  Charles Baxter,  Jim Haworth and  Robert Brocar; and two grand-nephews, Chris Jones and  Glenn Truex.

Juanita was born and raised in Sellersburg. She later moved to New Albany,  and worked at Woolworths and M. Fine and Son. She was also a long time resident of the Lincoln Heights neighborhood where she enjoyed many happy years.

Juanita’s greatest joys were her family and singing. Those of us fortunate enough to hear her sing, knew she had the voice of an angel, for she truly was an angel on earth. She sang professionally during the “Big Band” era for many years. Later she continued to do professional solo work as well as sing in church choirs, including Wall Street United Methodist Church in Jeffersonville,  where she and her late husband, Magnus, were long standing members.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m.  Wednesday and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

She will be dearly missed on earth, but welcomed in heaven. On behalf of Juanita’s family, friends, and all of the lives she touched, thank you.
