Funeral services for Clorece Byrd Walts, 84, of New Albany, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 12, at Kraft Funeral Service, Charlestown Road Chapel, New Albany, with interment in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. She died Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services.
She was born Dec. 20, 1927, in Crawford County, to the late Cecil and Lucy Mae Byrd and was the widow of Denzil Walts who died in 1997. She was a wonderful homemaker, wife, mom and grandmother who loved her family and friends. She loved quilting and was a longtime member of Culbertson Baptist Church.
Survivors include three children, Stephen Walts and his wife, Tina, Marilyn Traughber and her husband, Rick, both of New Albany, and Keith Walts and his wife, Shiela, of Sellersburg; a brother, Edsel Byrd and his wife, Betty, of Corydon; eight grandchildren, Stephen Walts Jr. and his wife, Lauren, Elizabeth Andres and her husband, Richie, Derek Traughber and his wife, Katie, Kyle Traughber, Page Deacon, Avery Walts, Keaton Walts, and Bayleigh Deacon; and two great-grandchildren, Stella and Evie.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two brothers, Melvin and Phillip Byrd.
Reception of family and friends will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, and after 11 a.m. Saturday, at the funeral home.
