Edward “Gene” Stewart, 79, of Greenville, will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at Kraft Funeral Service, Charlestown Road Chapel, New Albany, with burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany. He died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services in New Albany.
He was born May 8, 1933 in Cooper, Texas to the late William and Josephine Stewart. He was a United States Air Force veteran of the Korean War and was a retired sales manager for the old US Brass Company in Louisville. He was a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Floyds Knobs, and was preceded in death by a son, Michael Gene Stewart.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Noveline Stewart; son, Stephen Stewart and his wife, Stacy, of Charlestown; daughter, Jody Stewart, of Greenville; brothers, Charles Stewart, of Cumby, Texas, and Jimmy Stewart, of Garland, Texas; daughter-in-law, Shirley Stewart; grandchildren, Benjamin Stewart and his wife, Ashley, of Lexington, Ky., and Hallie Jones and her husband, Scott, of Charlestown; and great-grandson, Clark Stewart.
Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to First Southern Baptist Church, Floyds Knobs.
