Arlie R. Short Sr.

64; Vietnam War Army veteran






Funeral services for Arlie R. Short Sr., 64, of New Albany, will be at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, at Kraft Funeral Services, Spring Street Chapel, New Albany, with full military honors. Cremation will follow. He died Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010, at Lincoln Hills Health Center.

He was a native of Mayking, Ky., and retired employee of the City of New Albany after some 21 years. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, and a member of the Bonnie Sloan Post 28 American Legion, the Floyd County Post 3281 VFW, and the Voiture 40 and 8, all in New Albany.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Rosa A. Skeens Short; children, Arlie R. Short Jr. and his wife, Stefani, of New Albany, Rodger A. Short and his wife, Lea Ann, of New Albany and Latisha Jarecki and her husband, Jeff, of Jeffersonville; sisters, Mary Lou Adams and her husband, Norman, of Florida and Helen Adams and her husband, Floyd, of Michigan; brothers, Gordon “Slim” Short Sr., of Lanesville, Leonard Short, of New Albany and Mitchell Short, of Sellersburg; and grandchildren, Amber, Talor, Justin, Ethan and Crystal

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Elizabeth Short; brother, A.J. Short; and sisters, Jean Polly and Minnie Short.

Visitation at the funeral home will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday.
