A private memorial service for Earl Herdt, 86, of Jeffersonville, was held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, at Scott Funeral Home, Jeffersonville. Cremation was chosen and entombment in Walnut Ridge Mausoleum will be held at a later date. He died Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Jeffersonville, a graduate of Jeffersonville High School Class of 1945 where he played on the men’s basketball team and was an Army Air Corp veteran. He retired from Glenmore Distillery. He enjoyed spending time with his family, vacationing at the beach and was an avid IU fan.
He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Herdt; three children, Penny Burns and her husband, Phil, of Jeffersonville, Steve Herdt and his wife, Christine, of Chesterfield, Va.; and Teri Hill and her husband, Tom, Charlestown; six grandchildren, Sheri Lane and her husband, Dave, Steve Burns and his wife Donita, Joshua Herdt and his wife, Michelle, Andrew Herdt, Matt Hill, and Natalie White and her husband, Todd; and 11 great-grandchildren.
