Funeral services for Dorothy L. Allen, 86, of New Albany, will be at 9 a.m. Friday, Feb. 1, at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home, Georgetown, with burial in Milltown Cemetery. She died, being taken to heaven, Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013.
She was born in Jeffersonville on May 14, 1926, the daughter of William and Grace Sutton Cannon. She worked for the state as an in-home caregiver.
Survivors include a son, David Allen and his wife, Peggy, of Georgetown; grandchildren, Todd Allen, of Georgetown, Eric Allen, of Orlando, Fla., Chad Allen, of Gramercy, La., Sherri Kerr, of Pekin, and Terri Clements, of Fredericksburg; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Urban Allen, and a son, Terry Allen.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, and after 8 a.m. Friday, at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorial gifts be made to the NAFC Animal Shelter or to the Alzheimer Association.
The family would like to thank Green Valley Care Center for their care and compassion for their mother and grandmother.
