Funeral services for Arthur Edward Decker Jr., 69, of Jeffersonville, will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15, at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Jeffersonville, with burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany. He died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, with his family by his side.
He was born in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., a retired I.B.E.W. Local 369 electrician, a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. He was an avid volunteer for many organizations including: Red Cross, USS LST Ship Memorial, Honor Flight, Rolling Thunder/ Run for the Wall, P.O.W./ M.I.A., Toys for Tots, H.O.G.S. and Bee-Keepers.
Survivors include his loving wife, Karen Decker; step daughter, Cindie Weatherford and husband, Tim, of Cicero; four siblings, Don Decker and wife, Linda, Ken Decker and wife, Dee, Joe Decker, and Joy Decker Stuecker and husband, Phil; four step-grandchildren, Austin, Dakota, Grant and Sterling Weatherford; and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Sr. and Yrleen Decker.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at Scott Funeral Home, Jeffersonville.
