Funeral services for Donald Lloyd Meyer, 64, of New Albany, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, in the Paul F. Kraft Sr. Memorial Chapel at Generations Funeral Home, 3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, followed by burial with military honors at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany. He lost his short battle with pancreatic cancer on Monday, Oct. 26, 2009, at the VA Hospice Unit in Louisville.
He was retired from L. Thorn Company in New Albany and was a member of Local 795 Labor Union. He was a United States Army veteran serving in Vietnam. He was born April 2, 1945, in Floyd County, to the late Lloyd H. and Kathleen M. Wolf Meyer.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Gloria Dianne Wright Meyer; son, Brian, and his wife, Kari, of Memphis; brothers, Larry “Snake” Meyer and his wife, Bobbi Jo and David Meyer and Joyce Roberts, all of New Albany; brother-in-law, Dudley Wright and his wife, Arlene, of Shelbyville, Ky.; and many cousins, friends, and neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and by his infant son, Donald L. Meyer, Jr.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from noon to 8 p.m. today.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Disabled American Veterans.
