Funeral services for John A. Rogers Sr., 81, of Clarksville, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, at Coots’ Funeral Home, Jeffersonville, with burial in Walnut Ridge Cemetery. He died Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009, at his residence.
He was born Aug. 4, 1928, in Clarksville, to the late George Henry and Alta Davis Rogers. He was an assistant street commissioner for the City of Clarksville.
Survivors include his wife, Isabelle M. Rogers of Clarksville; son, John A. Rogers Jr. and his wife, Carolyn, of Jeffersonville; daughter, Brenda C. Veach and her husband, Mark, of Jeffersonville; stepdaughter, Connie M. Bay and her husband, Charles, of Frankfort, Ky.; grandsons, John Rogers III of Chicago, Brent Veach of Columbus, Jeffrey Veach of Jeffersonville, and Danny and Tony Bay, both of Frankfort, Ky.; granddaughters, Tina Wynn, Debi Johnson, Jackie Luttrell, and Donna Wilson, all of Frankfort, Ky.; numerous great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, George D. Rogers, William T. Rogers, Donald Ray Rogers, and Richard Lee Rogers; sisters, Mildred Grambell, Ann Plummer, and Elnora B. Edwards; daughter, Patty Johnson; and grandson, D. Wayne Johnson.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 2 to 8 p.m. today, Friday.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Hosparus of Southern Indiana.
