Virginia C. Kunzman Gaunt

88; of Jeffersonville

Funeral services for Virginia C. Kunzman Gaunt, 88, of Jeffersonville, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 6, at Scott Funeral Home¹s North Chapel,

Jeffersonville, with burial in New Albany National Cemetery, New Albany. She died Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, at Wedgewood Nursing Home, Clarksville.

She was born in Louisville and was a homemaker. With her husband being in the Marines, they were able to travel the country. She was a graduate of Shawnee High School, class of 1939. During World War II, she was an arc welder. She loved to sing and dance with her siblings.

Survivors include her daughters, Darlene Merandi and her husband, Paul, of Westland, Mich., and Georgiann Bertrand of Frankfort, Ky.; sons, Dale Gaunt and his wife, Patricia, of Plainfield, and Carl Ray Gaunt III and his wife, Andrea, of Santa Ana, Calif.; grandchildren, Dona Merandi, of

Jeffersonville, Dana Merandi, Christopher Merandi and his wife, Suzanne, Paul Merandi, and Michelle Merandi, all of Westland, Mich., John Bertrand and his wife, Terri, of Lexington, Ky., Courtney Bertrand, of Frankfort, Ky., Tricia Jackson and her husband, Brian, and Caralee Gaunt, of

Plainfield, Angela Ortega and her husband, Andrew, of Indianapolis, Erynn Gaunt, of Pittsburgh, Penn., Eric Gaunt, of LaPorte, Daniel Zachary Gaunt, and Samantha Gaunt, of Santa Ana, Calif.; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Ray Gaunt Jr.; parents, George and Emma Kunzman; her siblings, Judge George Kunzman, Dorothy Martin, William Kunzman and Lawrence Kunzman; and grandchildren, James Bertrand and Virginia Ellen Bertrand.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 3 to 8 p.m. today.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the local American Cancer Society in her memory. Envelopes

will be available at the funeral home.
