Funeral services for Laurel A. Dodge Jr., 76, of Charlestown, will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, at Grayson Funeral Home, Charlestown, with burial with graveside military honors conducted by VFW Post 1429 in Charlestown Cemetery. He died Wednesday Nov. 4, 2009, at Jewish Hospital, Louisville.
He was born Aug. 31, 1933, in Floyd Knobs, to the late Laurel A. Dodge, Sr. and Carrie Rankin Dodge. He was a port engineer for the American Commercial Barge Lines, a member of the Borden Masonic Lodge and the VFW Post 1429 and was in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Irene Dodge, of Charlestown; son, Laurel A. Dodge III, of Salem; sister, Sharon Kidd, of Shelbyville, Ky.; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Renee Robertson; stepson, Jimmy Tucker; granddaughter, Sheila Cook; and son, Larry E. Dodge.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m., with a Masonic service at 7 p.m., Saturday, and after 9 a.m. Sunday.
