Funeral services for Marjo L. Smith, 57, of New Albany, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, at the Market Street Chapel of Seabrook Dieckmann & Naville Funeral Homes. Cremation was chosen. She died Friday, Nov. 13, 2009, at Floyd Memorial Hospital.
She was a the former Marjo L. Brown, a native of Salem. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a graduate from Indian University Southeast and was a science teacher at Scribner Middle School, in New Albany. She was also a former instructor for Indiana Wesleyan University.
She is survived by her husband, John D. Smith; son, Ryan Chanley, of Henryville; stepson Justin (Melissa) Smith, of Calif.; brother David (Jane) Brown, of Ill.; two grand children, Austin and Mason Chanley; and three stepgrandchildren, Alec, Nolan and Peyton Smith.
She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Marguerite Brown.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16, and 12 to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may be given to the National MS Society.
