Ruth Elaine ‘March’ Silver

80; of Jeffersonville

Funeral services for Ruth Elaine “March” Silver, 80, of Jeffersonville, formerly of Greensburg, will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, at Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home, Greensburg, with burial in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Greensburg. She died Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009, at Clark Memorial Hospital.

She was born Feb. 18, 1929, in Louisville, the daughter of Jesse D. and Margueret Vittitoe March. She was a 1947 graduate of Mercy Academy in Louisville, was a homemaker and the director of the Latch Key program for the YMCA during that time she was Child Care Provider for 13 years at the YMCA. She was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greensburg, and a member of the St. Lawrence Auxiliary since 1992. She married Frank Silver in December of 1956 in Speed and he preceded her in death.

Survivors include a daughter, Bonita Willman and her husband, Steve, of Jeffersonville; a sister, Barbara March, of Louisville; a brother, Jack March, of Danielsville, Pa.; four grandchildren; Douglas Reynolds, of Louisville, Phaedra Garrett and her husband, James, of Jeffersonville, Laura Upchurch, of Euless, Texas and Emilie Lormand and husband, Terry, of Lewisville, Texas; and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Frank, a daughter, Gail Lynn Silver; and a brother, Jesse D. March III.

Visitation at the funeral home will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
