Frances Elinor Wiegman Bailey

93; of Jeffersonville


Funeral services for Frances Elinor Wiegman Bailey, 93, of Jeffersonville, will be at 10 a.m. today, Saturday, Nov. 21, at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 315 East Chestnut St., Jeffersonville, with burial to take place at a later date at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Dwight, Ill. She died Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009.

She was born in Moweaqua, Ill., a graduate of Illinois State Normal Teachers College and obtained her Master’s degree from West Virginia University. She taught school for 50 years throughout Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and West Virginia. She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and the Daughters of Isabella.

Survivors include her daughter, Barbara K. Williams and her husband, Jim, of Jeffersonville; grandsons, Kyle Patrick Williams, and his wife, Janee, of Jeffersonville and Matthew Michael Williams and his wife, Christina, of Jeffersonville; great-grandchildren, Patrick Joseph Williams, James Addison Williams, Sarah Kathleen Williams, and Charles Hansford Williams, all of Jeffersonville; sister, Mary Elizabeth Langhorst, of Kankakee, Ill.; brother, John Robert Wiegman, of Erie, Penn.; sister-in-law, Margaret Wiegman Pieper, of Springfield, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, George Addison Bailey, who passed in 1986; son, John Michael Bailey; granddaughter, Mary Williams; sisters, Lucille Marie Hanser, Josephine Esther Wiegman, Catherine Estelle Wiegman; and brother, William Lloyd Wiegman.

Scott Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to St. Elizabeth Catholic Charities or to the St. Augustine Adopt-a-Child Program.
