Floyd ‘Bud’ Bennett

76; of Corydon

A celebration of life Mass for Floyd “Bud” Bennett, 76, of Corydon, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Corydon, with entombment in Cedar Hill Cemetery. He died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012.

He was born Jan. 12, 1936, the son of the late Floyd and Helen McPhillips Bennett. He was owner and president of Bennett & Bennett Insurance, Inc. He was in the insurance industry for 52 years, and was a community volunteer and leader in many organizations in Southern Indiana. An avid golfer, he was a member of Old Capitol Golf Club and the Imperial Golf Club in Naples, Fla.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Betty Engleman Bennett; a daughter, Pamela Bennett Martin and her husband, David, of Georgetown; two sons, Mark Bennett, of Naples, Fla. and Larry Bennett, of Corydon; two grandsons, Brent Martin and Douglas Martin and his wife, Liz; brothers and sisters, Marlene Duley, of Clarksville, Betty Hayden and her husband, James, of Corydon, Jerry Bennett and his wife, Charlotte, of Sellersburg, Cathy Thomas and her husband, Jimmy, of Borden, and Michael Bennett and his wife, Ann, of Corydon; 23 nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dwight Bennett (Diane Harris).

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, at the church.
