Funeral services for Wallace E. Carpenter, 81, of Jeffersonville, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, at E.M. Coots and Sons Funeral Home in Jeffersonville, with burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany. He died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was a native of Jeffersonville, a retired printer for the Courier-Journal, a member of Park Memorial Methodist Church, a morning Optimist, a member of the Jaycees and an avid bowler.
Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years Betty J. Carpenter; sons, David B. Carpenter and Timothy J. Carpenter, both of Jeffersonville; daughters, Rebecca S. Jonson, of Clearwater, Fla. and Cheryl A. Cardin, of Jeffersonville; brothers, Homer C. Carpenter, of Clarksville, and Anthony H. Carpenter, Jr., of Jeffersonville; sister Carolyn S. Prichard, of Salem; 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony H. and Lenore E. Carpenter and his brother Warren C. Carpenter.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and after 11 a.m. on Wednesday.
