Funeral services for Michael A. Sumpter, 51, of Borden, will be at noon, Thursday, Oct. 25, at Scott Funeral Home’s North Chapel, Jeffersonville, with burial in Walnut Ridge Cemetery. He died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services.
He was born in Rushville, and worked 33 years for Greater Clark County Schools.
He is survived by his son, Zachary Sumpter and his wife Amanda, of Borden; three siblings, Davetta Stone, of Newcastle, Cindy Peyton, of Rushville, and Brian Peyton and wife Lori, of Greenfield; and stepparents, Doug and Carol Peyton.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 27 years, Reneé Sumpter, parents, David V. Sumpter and Othel Odum, and sister, Karen Sumpter.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, and 11 a.m. to noon Thursday, at the funeral home.
