Funeral services for James L. Gilpin Sr., 79, of New Albany, will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5, at Kraft Funeral Service, Charlestown Road Chapel, New Albany, with private entombment in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany. He died Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services, New Albany.
The son of the late Bryant and Mattie Gilpin, he was born Aug. 17, 1933 in Columbia, Ky. He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from General Electric Company in Louisville. He was also a Mason and member of Community General Baptist Church in Louisville.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Virginia Fellows Gilpin; sons, Kevin Gilpin, and James Gilpin Jr.; and brothers, Hayden Gilpin, June Gilpin, and Bud Gilpin.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home.
