A memorial celebration service for Everett E. “Ev” Cox, 97, of Clarksville, will be at 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at Kraft Funeral Service, Charlestown Road Chapel, New Albany. He died Tuesday Oct. 9, 2012, at Westminster Health Care in Clarksville.
He was born July 20, 1915 in Dickenson, N. D. to the late Ralph and Ida Bell Olsen Cox. He was a retired plant manager for Crucable Steel Inc. after many years in the steel industry. He was a professional basketball player with the old Young Americans which is now the N.B.A. L.A. Lakers. He lived in Bradenton, Fla. for many years after retirement with his wife of some 30 years, Dorotha. He loved golf, dancing and most of all his family and friends. He was a member of Covenant Life Church in Jeffersonville, and he will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Dorotha Dowding Cox; four stepchildren, Ray Bottomley and wife, Ladonna, Ron Bottomley and wife, Sue, Karen Bottomley, and David Bottomley and wife, Karen; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ruth Hafey.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, at the funeral home.
