A memorial service for Mildred Lenora Washington McNeary, 86, of New Albany, will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, at Jones Memorial AME Zion Church, New Albany. She died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, at her home.
She was born Jan. 18, 1926, to the late Willard Washington and Aline Mitchell Tompkins. After becoming a register nurse, she worked at Bellevue Hospital Center in New York. She also worked as a supervisor at St. Edwards Hospital in New Albany. She was a faithful and lifetime member of Jones Memorial African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church.
She is survived by her sons, Phillip McNeary Jr. and his wife, Linda, Virgil Seay and his wife, Sandra, and Floyd Cummings; grandchildren, Sian, David, Phillecia and her husband, Laron, Rodney Jr. and his wife, Shahanna, Roderick and his wife, Amelia, Erina, Angel, Rodnesha, Colleen and her husband, Claude, Darrin, Gregory, Alicia, Felicia, and Lori; and many great-grandchildren and other relatives.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Lawrence McNeary Sr.; son, Rodney C. McNeary Sr.; and grandson, Anthoni Vaughn.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, at the church.
