Funeral services for Denzil L. Mitchell, 87, of New Albany, will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, at Seabrook Dieckmann & Naville Funeral Homes, Market Street Chapel, New Albany, with burial and full military honors to follow at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Alton. He died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010.
Born to the late Arthur and Bernice Pleasant Mitchell, he was a native of Crawford County. He was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
Survivors include a son, Willie Mitchell and his wife, Sheila, of Louisville; daughters, Deanna Temple and her husband, Terry, of New Albany, Sherry L. Mitchell, of New Albany, Pam Ries, of Clarksville and Tammy Johnson and her husband, David, of New Castle; brother, Ted Mitchell, of Tell City; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Goldie F. Chanley Mitchell; and his sister, Mary Cole.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday.
The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society.
