Funeral services for Jewell "Judy" Esther Wingham Hylcord, 82, of Hanover, will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 2, at Grandview Memorial Gardens Chapel, Madison, with burial in Grandview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. She died Tuesday, July 27, 2010, at Hanover Health & Rehab Center, Hanover.
She was born March 22, 1928, in Fairview, the daughter of Allen Edward and Sophronia Elizabeth Richmond Wingham. She had resided in Jefferson County since she was in 10th grade and graduated in 1946 from Madison High School. She was united in marriage to George Edwin Hylcord on Nov. 20, 1946, and this union was blessed with three daughters. She was an Avon sales lady for 11 years. She attended Hanover United Methodist Church and enjoyed playing the piano and singing.
Survivors include two daughters, Karen “Jodi” Rieger and her husband, Kenneth, of Memphis and Cindi Banta, of Fairfield, Ohio; a brother, Joe Wingham and his wife, Joyce, of West Chester, Ohio; her grandchildren, Timothy Rieger, Angela Rieger, Sam Banta and Andy Banta; great-grandson, Ean Rieger; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, George Edwin Hylcord, who died June 20, 2000; her daughter, Carol Christine Benham, who died March 15, 2009; her son-in-law, Barton F. Banta, who died May 8, 2000; her sisters, Ruth Leach, Naoma Watson, Christine Darnell, Kathleen Kinnaman, Martha Renschler, Mabel Phillips, Irene Meyer and Rubye Engle; and her brothers, Omer, Ray, Roy and Herbert Wingham.
Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday, at the Grandview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel, 9306 North U.S. 421, near Madison.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society. Contribution cards are available at the funeral home.
