Funeral services for Nellie Centers Mullins, 91, of Scottsburg, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, at Adams Funeral Home & Crematory, Henryville, with burial in Lexington Cemetery. She died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012, at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville.
Born Feb. 19, 1921 in Downey, Ky., she was the daughter of Benjamin Franklin and Maude Walters Centers. She was of Baptist faith, enjoyed playing bingo, cooking, working crossword puzzles, and working in her garden. She worked at Mariann Restaurant in Scottsburg, and worked at the 76 Truck Stop in Hamburg as a prep cook. When she was growing up she helped her dad on the farm and helped do carpentry which she was extremely proud of.
On June 23, 1956 she married Edmond S. Mullins who preceded her in death in 2003.
Survivors include her daughter and her husband, Wilma L. and William “Rusty” R. Collier II, of Sellersburg; a granddaughter, Brittany N. Bishop and her husband, Brandon, of Jeffersonville.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Jack Centers, Mary Sexton, Della Miles, Bernie Centers, Ernie Centers, Chris Centers.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and after 10 a.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.
