A celebration of life memorial service for Mary Lou Castetter Bagshaw, 84, of Henryville, will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 5, at the Henryville Community Presbyterian Church. She died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013.
She was a member of St. James Church, Louisville, and graduated from Henryville High School in 1946. She was a life-giving force in the lives of many through her faith in God and her expression of music. She was an accomplished pianist who shared her musical talent by teaching piano in the Henryville area. She served as the pianist/organist at the Henryville Community Presbyterian Church for more than 40 years. Her parents, Gertrude and J.V. Castetter, were charter members of the church. Even after retiring, she provided continuing mentorship to musicians.
She spent much of her retirement traveling throughout North America with her husband, Kenneth, while living full-time in an RV. They also traveled extensively in Europe. She enjoyed taking her daily walk in every new place they visited.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Bagshaw; son, David Bagshaw, of Yelm, Wash.; daughters, Margaret “Peg” Stephens, of Henryville, and Linda Steadman, of Las Vegas, Nev.; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
The family requests that donations be made to the Salk Institute for Biological Studies (http://www.salk.edu/) in lieu of flowers.
Her body was donated to the U of L School of Medicine for research.
