Funeral and remembrance services for Michael Matthew Strange, 68, of Louisville, will be at 7 p.m. today, Wednesday, Feb. 13, at Kraft Funeral Service, Spring Street Chapel, New Albany. He left this world on Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, with sobriety and dignity in the hands of his Higher Power.
He was born Oct. 7, 1944, in New Albany to Dr. Martin B. and Mary Patricia Gardner Strange. A 1962 graduate of Our Lady of Providence High School in Clarksville, he attended Indiana University Southeast and Indiana University at Bloomington. He was a proud veteran of the military (1963-1967), having served in Vietnam (1965-1966) as a Navy medical corpsman assigned to the U.S. Marine Corps. He went on to complete a 50-year career in sales. He was a 28-year member of Alcoholics Anonymous.
Survivors include his son, Raymond Thaddeus Strange, of New Albany; a granddaughter, Rhiannon G. Strange, of New Albany; three siblings, Brian, of London, U.K., Carney, of Bowling Green, Ohio, and Mary Ellen, of Lake Wells, Fla.; nine nieces and nephews; and seven great nieces
and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, David Andrew Strange; his parents; and a sister, Harriet Strange Chalfant.
A reception of family and friends will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Alcoholics Anonymous Louisville Central Office, 332 W. Broadway, Room 620, Louisville, Ky., 40202.
