Funeral services for Carl Broughton, 85, of Sellersburg, will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 19, at Newcomer Funeral Home, New Albany, with burial to follow at Sellersburg Cemetery. He died peacefully on Nov. 16, 2012, surrounded by his loving family.
Carl was born on Jan. 12, 1927, in Blanche, Ky. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was stationed in Berlin, Germany. He retired from ICI America. He was a member of the American Legion Post 204.
Carl leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter, Brenda K. Niehaus and her husband Mark; longtime companion, Donna Crawford; sister, Dica Simpson; brothers, Ernest Jackson and his wife Elaine, Virgil Jackson and his wife Pat, Charles Jackson and his wife Connie, and Kelly Jackson; grandchildren, Carl and William Kannapel, and Mathew Niehaus; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virgie Smith of Eastern Kentucky, and four siblings, Bill Hopkins, Hazel Petrey, Paul Hopkins, and Jewell Jackson.
Visitation will be from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home.
