Funeral services for Archie C. Sergent Jr., 81, of Clarksville, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, at E.M. Coots’ Sons Funeral Home in Jeffersonville, with burial in Walnut Ridge Cemetery. He died Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was a native of Millstone, Ky., and was retired from General Electric where he was a member of the IUE-CWA 761 Union. He was a member of Zoneton Masonic Lodge 964, American Legion Post 35, Order of Redman Manzanita Tribe 276 and was a Kentucky Colonel.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Mary Lou Webb Sergent; a son, Archie Craig Sergent, of Jeffersonville; daughters, Judy C. Owens, of Jeffersonville and Margie L. Knoop and her husband, Keith, of Jeffersonville; brothers, Ben E. Sergent, of Roseville, Mich., and Harold E. Sergent, of Moses Lake, Wash.; sisters, Thelma G. Lundy, of Salem, Virginia R. Lapilo, of Palm Springs, Calif., Janet S. Flynn, of Pekin, Janic K. Costantine, of Brandenburg, Ky., and Dora, of Salem; five grandchildren, three great grandchildren, one step grandchild and two step great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Archie C. and Sola G. Sergent.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 4 to 8 pm. Tuesday, Nov. 27, and after 9 a.m. Wednesday.
The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Association.
