June W. Whitaker

June W. Whitaker, 80; of Charlestown

Funeral services for June W. Whitaker, 80, of Charlestown, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, 301 Gospel Road, Charlestown, with burial in Charlestown Cemetery. She died Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010, at St. Catherine Regional Hospital, Charlestown.

She was born June 2, 1929, in Jeremiah, Ky., to the late David and Christina Arnold Adams. She worked for I.C.I. and was a homemaker, was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Charlestown, and Charlestown Fire Department Auxiliary, and enjoyed playing Bingo.

Survivors include her daughter, Donna Harper, of Charlestown; son, Randy Whitaker and his wife, Flo, of Jeffersonville; sister, Emma Amburgey, of Jeremiah, Ky.; brothers, David Adams, of Parkersburg, W.V., and Phillip and Harold Adams, both of Louisville; grandchildren, Josh Harper and his wife, Amy, David Whitaker and his wife, Kelly, and Derek Jones, all of Jeffersonville, Brian Jones of Louisville, and Cullen Jones and his wife, Erin, of Charlestown; great-grandchildren, Kelan Jones and Riley Harper; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Clarence Whitaker, in 2004; and her sister, Carolyn Gilley.

Visitation will be at Grayson Funeral Home, Charlestown, from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday, and at the church after 9 a.m. Wednesday.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Charlestown.
