Irene Douglas Smith

Irene Douglas Smith, 62; of New Albany

Funeral services for Irene Douglas Smith, 62, of New Albany, will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12, at Galatian Missionary Baptist Church, New Albany, with entombment in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. She died Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010, at her home.

She was born in Logan County, Ky. and was a native of New Albany. She was a former employee of Rauch Industries for 10 years and was a member of Galatian Missionary Baptist Church, New Albany.

Survivors include her husband, Clyde G. Smith; daughters, Bobby Jo Douglas and Erica C. Williams and her husband, Doug, of Louisville; sons, Todd Anthony Douglas, of Washington D.C. and Charles Brewer Jr.; father, Frederick E. Douglas; God son and nephew, Allen VanCliff; a sister, Cyrila Douglas; brothers, Israel Douglas, of Indianapolis, Robert Douglas and his wife, Martha, of Huntsville, Ala., Claybourn Douglas and his wife, Juanita, Raybourn Douglas and his wife, Janice, of Jeffersonville and James Bryant Douglas; four grandchildren; eight God children, who were also loved and raised as grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Visitation at the church will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday and after 10 a.m. Friday.

Mason Brothers Memorial Chapel in Evansville, is in charge of arrangements.
